Aging Gracefully with LED Light Therapy

Total body wellness is a combination of not only looking good on the outside but feeling good on the inside. And the whole-body benefits of light therapy go beyond skin deep. Whether you are looking for non-invasive alternatives to address those stubborn fine lines and wrinkles or addressing chronic pain, FDA-cleared and medical grade light therapy devices deliver safe, natural wavelengths of light energy to help our bodies heal from the inside out.
Using specific wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and tissue, this energy is absorbed by our cells, stimulating various biological processes. The key mechanism is the activation of mitochondria, the powerhouse of cells, which increases cellular energy (ATP) production. This boost in energy enhances cell function and repair, leading to numerous anti-aging benefits.

How it Works

Reverse Aging with LED Light Therapy

Aging is all about the body's metabolic process slowing down, leading to wrinkles, joint pain, and other signs of aging. LED light therapy emits red and near-infrared light stimulating fibroblast cells and boosting the production of collagen and elastin, the building blocks of our body's skin, joints, ligaments, and connective tissue, keeping skin firm and joints pain-free.

Accelerated wound healing

The Science of LED Light Therapy and Aging Skin

Embrace the power of LED light therapy and transform your skin. Discover how this innovative treatment can help you achieve and maintain a youthful, radiant complexion. Are you ready to turn back the clock on your skin? Red and near-infrared light therapy stimulates fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen production, helping to restore the skin's firmness and elasticity.

Regular use of light therapy can significantly diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The light penetrates the skin and promotes cellular regeneration, which smooths out the skin's surface and reduces the depth and severity of wrinkles. Light therapy enhances overall skin tone and texture, evens out pigmentation, reduces redness, and improves the skin’s overall clarity, leading to a more radiant and balanced complexion. The increased blood flow and cellular activity reduce inflammation and speed up the repair process of damaged skin, making it an excellent treatment for post-procedure recovery.

Anti-Aging Wavelengths

Celluma devices emit multiple proven wavelengths of light energy simultaneously for compounded therapeutic benefits.

The wrinkles, acne, and aches and pains treatment modes contain a combination of blue (465nm), red (640nm), and near infrared (880nm) wavelengths.

Each treatment mode is a proprietary algorithm that produces the correct combinations of wavelengths and fluence that deliver the results supported by clinical studies.

The Protocol

The standard anti-aging protocol is to use Celluma on the Wrinkles setting 3x per week for 4 weeks for best results. Using Celluma LED light therapy devices is very relaxing. Settle into a relaxing position and wrap the treatment area with your Celluma. A single treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes. Stiff, sore and painful joints may experience improvements with one to three sessions. Results vary depending on your inherent health, the severity of the condition and adherence to protocols. What The Research Says About Red Light Therapy For Aging Skin

The depth of each wavelength adopted in LED therapy (blue, red, and near infrared) have differing primary targets and photoreactions in the target cells through photon absorption, intracellular signal transduction and finally the cellular photo-response.

Visible wavelengths stimulate cellular metabolism by triggering intracellular photobiochemical reactions. The observed effects include increased ATP, an organic chemical that provides energy, modulation of reactive oxidative species (ROS), alteration of collagen synthesis, stimulation of angiogenesis and increased blood flow. Research also demonstrated the increase in the production of multiple growth factors and the inhibition of apoptosis or “cell death”. All studies have demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in skin rejuvenation, as well as enhancing existing rejuvenation treatments (3,4)

Clinical studies in the use of red LED (630-700nm) on human and animal tissue, have demonstrated it activates fibroblast growth factors, increasing type 1 procollagen, an increase in Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and a decrease in MMP-1. These result in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, improvement in photo-aging, a decrease in melanin and softer, smoother healthier looking skin. Skin analysis studies reveal an increased collagen density in the papillary and upper reticular dermis with the collagen bundles more packed and well organized. The thickness was observed to be greater than when evaluated before red LED treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Low-level-light therapy or photobiomodulation is based on Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology and is the application of light energy to the body for therapeutic benefits. It promotes a natural photobiochemical reaction similar to the process of plant photosynthesis. The energy delivered by the LEDs has been shown to enhance cellular metabolism, accelerate the repair and replenishment of damaged skin cells, as well as stimulate the production of collagen — the foundation of healthy, smooth skin. Research has shown that LED light therapy may help smooth skin texture, improve skin firmness and resilience, increase lymphatic system activity, restore skin’s natural cellular activity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and superficial hyperpigmentation. The treatment is for all skin types, and is non-ablative, non-invasive, painless, and requires absolutely no downtime. Patients or clients can return to their normal activity immediately after the treatment.

  • LED devices are considered extremely low risk when used as intended.

  • Position Celluma as close to your skin as possible, the closer the better. One key advantage to Celluma is its patented flexible design, which allows for close positioning to the skin, and may lead to more effective results.

  • Based on extensive research, low-level-light therapy devices have been cleared by the
FDA, and shown to manage muscle spasm, hair restoration, body contouring, facial wrinkles and rhytids, minor muscle and joint aches, mild to moderate acne vulgaris, minor muscle, joint, and arthritic pain, pain and stiffness associated with arthritis, sub-optimal local blood flow and circulation, superficial, benign vascular and pigment lesions, minor chronic neck and shoulder pain of a musculoskeletal origin.

  • Light therapy is non-invasive and painless when used as intended.

  • Absolutely! The closer to the skin the better. The only time you won’t want Celluma to touch the skin is when you are treating open wounds and concerned about cross-contamination. In these cases, we recommend using the Celluma disposable hygiene barriers.

  • Yes! Animals respond well to Celluma, and both Veterinarians and Certified Animal Chiropractors are using Celluma successfully to treat a variety of conditions. Unlike human use, where the FDA imposes restrictions, Celluma can be used on animals without restrictions.

  • Low-level light therapy is based on light emitting diode (LED) technology developed by NASA for manned space flight experiments. In comparison to lasers, LED technology generates negligible amounts of heat and is not considered anon-significant risk category by the FDA.

  • No, LASER machines are different than LED devices and generally not cleared for use in the home.  However, there are different categories of LASERs. Cold and soft LASERs are categorized as low-level light therapy devices just like LED devices. LED and cold LASERs are cleared for the same indications. However, LASERs have inherent drawbacks including extremely small treatment areas, and they are much more expensive to manufacture and maintain. Some companies market their LED devices as LASERs which is both misleading and dangerous.
