I am so hoping of relief from nerve pain due to arm amputation and also using it on my face as I am 65 and would like to even out my skin.

I have had a good amount of red light devices and find this one to be just ok for the price. I don't like how the plastic looking film feels like it could just pop out and it's not as flexible as I thought it would be.

I have been using it mostly on my abdomen for reproductive health (off label), and it doesn't lay quite right. My hip bones stop it from being able to fully form to my abdomen but it also doesn't really lay fully flat without the plastic screen sort of popping, and I don't want to break it. It's mostly just awkward. It's the same when trying to use it for low back.

I also dislike that you cannot turn off the blue light and just do red and NIR. Blue light kills bacteria, so when using it daily it could kill the healthy flora on the skin. Fine for acne, but I am not using it for that.

Also, it had a horrible plastic chemical smell for the first week using it and my entire bedroom smelled like chemicals. It gave me headaches. Not super happy about buying a wellness device that has strong enough fumes to cause headaches.

If I was just using this for face, where you lay under it, I would consider it fine, but for body, and specifically abdomen/back I am not a fan. I have a neck/chest device from another brand that is more like a silicone material that I think might be better.

Hi Allison, Thank you you so much for your feedback! Let us try to address some of your concerns....

On the plastic shield, this is a high-grade polycarbonate material chosen for it's quality and clarity. Because Celluma devices are flexible and shape-taking, we designed the polycarbonate shield to have some free movement inside the foam housing. What this does is allows the light energy to pass through without obstruction, protects the LED's from moisture, and allows for easy cleaning without the risk of harming the device. The Celluma device is quite flexible, and can be wrapped around your elbow or knee snugly, but please refer to your user's manual; there is a maxium amount of flex that should be applied to the device so as not to damage the LED array.

On shaping to your body, there are a number of ways to curve the device to fit your body. If you curve it outward (backwards), the plastic may pop out. For back treatment, we recommend a pre-curve into a subtle C-shape, and then sitting up in a chair or couch, wrapping the device around your lower back and sides. For the abdomen, we'd have to see a photo of how your are doing this. You can email us at hello at celluma.com, or give us a call and we can talk you throuhg the best way to position given each person's unique body make-up.

On blue light, there should be no concern. Blue light (465nm) in the wrinkles mode will only kill the C.Acne bacteria, but it is not as strong as the Acne mode (not included with the HOME). There is no UV light emitted from Celluma devices, and we know of no evidence for blue light near our wavelength to have an effect on other types of bacteria. That siad, we should mention that the Pain mode on your home has blue light active, but the output is so small it's not really doing anything. We've heard reports of some people using Pain mode for facial treatments (with or without pulse). So there should be no reason to not use the wrinkles mode, but you have an alternative option if you like.

We're sorry to hear about the smell. These are brand new devices that are coming off the manufacturing line, so everyone gets a brand new device. This is rare, but it can happen if the items are boxed too quickly after they come off the manufacturing line without enough time for off-gassing.
